Governing from an empty center

Eugene Robinson cogently shoots up some dead fish in a barrel in summing up Sarah Palin. But I have one quibble with his list of the character traits required of an elected official:

Articulating a political vision and inspiring people to believe in it are true accomplishments, and no one can take that away from her. But realizing that vision through legislation or executive action requires discipline, persistence and rigor. To return to stating the obvious, these are attributes that Palin lacks.

The key requirement for governing effectively that Palin lacks is fair dealing. From her first entry onto the public stage in Wasilla, Palin has continuously misrepresented her opponents, double-crossed her assumed allies* and lied about her own actions. You can't govern that way -- except in a police state.
